The Head of the department is Professor Maria Paula Diogo, who is assisted by the Executive Board. The Executive Board includes the Coordinators of the two scientific sections of the department, Professors Vítor Teodoro (History and Philosophy of Science and Technology and Education) and Duarte Brito (Economy, Management and Sociology).
The President is also assisted by the Department Board, which includes the President, the members of the Executive Board, and Professors António Manuel Nunes dos Santos, representative of the PhD Programs, João Correia de Freitas, representative of the Master Programs, and José Luis Câmara Leme, representative of the Research Units.
