Fernanda Llussá holds a PhD in Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA and a Master in Business Economics at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), São Paulo, Brazil. Fernanda´s thesis on Credibility and Public Debt Management won the BNDES National Economics Prize in Brazil, and was later published as a book. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship: its concept and measurement, determinants of female entrepreneurship, and the impact of financial institutions on entrepreneurship. Fernanda´s work has been published in internationally refereed journals, and presented at several international research conferences. Fernanda developed courses in entrepreneurship at the PhD level at the MIT Portugal Program, as well as in several schools, and she is currently advising graduate theses on technology-market transfer and entrepreneurship. In 2009, Fernanda held a visiting position at the Deshpande Entrepreneurship Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 1998, she held a visiting position at the Harvard Institute for International Development at Harvard University where she worked with Professor Jeffrey Sachs on geography and economic growth. Her academic work has been mentioned in the press including Expresso, Folha de São Paulo, as well as on the Vox op-ed website.
